St. Gabriel Preschool welcomes children ages 3 years (and potty trained) to 5 years of age from all different backgrounds and ethnicities. Our Preschool program holds its own vast richness in its tradition.  St. Gabriel Preschool was established in 1986 with twenty children and two staff members.  We now serve up to 170 children, with 34 staff members, and operate the After School Enrichment for school-age children of St. Gabriel in grades K-6.   Our  Preschool program includes 3-year-old Preschool, 4-year-old Pre-Kindergarten, and 5-year-old Junior Kindergarten programs.  We also offer a full-time Summer Camp for Preschool-6th grade.  Over the last 30-plus years, the program has grown and evolved under the leadership of Jeannie Cockerel, Dot Brandenburg, Cindy Bowen, Shelly Pierce,  Sharon Benson, and now, Kat Abdin.  In 1995, we expanded, and again, in 2000, we constructed the facility where the Preschool resides today.  In August 2024, the Preschool received a brand new Junior Kindergarten wing, complete with 4 classrooms. This is clearly a rich program, now bursting at the seams!

During the summer of 2015, we renovated our entire St. Gabriel Preschool facility.  Our new facility has an expanded capacity of 170  students; all students are accommodated in the main school building.  In the Fall of 2020, we expanded once again to accommodate the Emergency Regulations issued by Kentucky State Child Care Licensing. We now offer 9 classrooms that hold 12-24 students based on state-regulated ratios with 1-2 teachers per class. In addition, we have additional staff members who aid in classrooms as needed.  

Our younger students enjoy classrooms in our main facility with their own child-sized bathrooms, teacher station, refrigerator, and hand-washing station.  As a reflection of St. Gabriel’s continued desire to incorporate technology into teaching, each room has its own Smartboard technology or touchscreen computer.  There are observation windows for parents, a parent-teacher conference area, a separate under-the-weather room, and a dedicated lobby space.

Our facility design is a reflection of our continued commitment to see our children continue to rise above and soar beyond.  It’s an investment in our future as a parish, a faith-based community, and a school committed to excellence in education.  We realize that excellence goes beyond the exterior appearances, that it is achieved with a dedicated and enthusiastic staff who love working with children, and a classroom experience with demonstrated results.  We hold ourselves accountable for achieving this mission.
