Saint Gabriel School Weekly Newsletter for Parents

WEEK 30- April 19

Letter from Administration

Dear Parents/ Guardians,

Safety is very important to us here at St. Gabriel.  Each year, we update our emergency preparedness plan in preparation for multiple types of emergencies.  While we hope that we will never need these plans, we want to be ready.  We work with the Kentucky Center for School Safety, Louisville Metro Police Department, and Fire Department to ensure our plans meet or exceed current safety standards for schools.  We are proud that our seasoned LMPD resource officer identified our school as “one of the most secure buildings” he’s ever visited.

Here are some of the safety measures in place at St. Gabriel:

We have developed a safety committee with representatives from all campus departments who meet monthly to update our plan as needed and determine a campus-wide approach to address current challenges.  Also, all campus staff are trained in CPR/ First Aid/ AED.

Here are some reminders for parents/guardians regarding their role during an emergency situation:

The key to providing a safe environment is for all stakeholders to be vigilant at all times.  Thank you for your support and partnership to maintain a safe environment for our children and families.

Have a blessed day,

Lara Krill

Principal

UPCOMING EVENTS

Spring MAP 2024 Schedule

Spring MAP Testing

Spring MAP testing began April 10.  Please make an extra effort to ensure your child arrives on time, eats breakfast, and has a snack on testing days.  While MAP is only one snapshot of how your child is doing, it does provide valuable data to help teachers plan instruction to meet your child's learning needs and evaluate our academic program.  NEW: Students may bring mints on their testing days (no gum or other candy).

STREAM Showcase

All families are invited to attend our annual STREAM Showcase on Wednesday, April 24 from 6-7 p.m.  All K-8 students will have projects displayed.  Also, families are invited to participate in hands-on activities and enjoy free pizza!  Any student who attends may have a uniform break on Friday, April 26.  As part of our sustainability initiative, please bring your own water bottle.

What is STREAM?  It is an acronym that stands for Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math.

What kinds of activities will there be?

Student Council Bake Sale

St.Gabriel will be holding our annual bake sale! We will be collecting donations April 22-26. Any student who donates a dozen (12) items will receive a Uniform break on May 1st. The sale will occur April 25-26, and every item will be 50 cents each. Students will also have a limit of four things they can buy per day.
